The social ranking
You don't want to go to a random place, you want to go to the best places in town.
That's why our ranking shows first your friends favorite places.
Your friends votes are much more reliable than other users' reviews. Therefore, their votes count much more in your personal ranking.
Nevertheless, if you do not have any friends in a given city, we calculate the community ranking adding the votes of all the MadeinLocal users.
A community ranking is not as powerful as your social ranking, still it is better than no ranking at all...
Hot Deals
We recommend you the quality ranking because quality rules! But from time to time you can use the hot deals filter in order to get 20%, 30% or even 50% discounts. More info
Powerful filters
On the right column, you will find powerful filters that will help you sort out the results by type of cuisine (french, italian, asian, etc)or equipment (free wi-fi, etc).
Even when you apply filters (style, equipment, etc), we always order the results by quality!
Our commitment to the quality ranking is essential because quality is the key of local commerce.
On the other hand, we realized that new restaurants and bars needed a chance to build their reputation in order to go up in the ranking. Therefore, we added the hot deals feature that allows new restaurants to be visible on the website from day one.
The merchant makes here a considerable effort on his prices in order to attract active MadeinLocal users that will vote for him and share reviews with their friends.

The discount percentage is always calculated on the food you consume given the following conditions:
- You must be at least 2 people.
- You must buy one (or more) paying drinks per person.
- You must pay cash.
- You must write a MadeinLocal review when back at home.

Social life in the real world!
We encourage users to go out and enjoy local life in the city best places and events.
In order to help you make sure you don't stay for too long away from real world leasure, we have a social points system that will help you measure your real-life social activity. We call this feature the social bar-o-meter.
Your social bar-o-meter is given by the number of social points you have. The more points you get, the higher the social status you will get. Initial situation is Freshman - 0 points.
Social leaders
The following actions will give you social points:

Every sunday there we remove 10% of your social points in order to make sure you don't having fun.

This is a newsfeed of your friends latest activity on MadeinLocal (whatever the city) and the current city newsfeed (including not friends activity).

A faire au moins une fois, plusieurs si on est motivé. La vue est imprenable et la promenade qui s'accompagne de la visite à la tour vaut largement le détour.
An original museum, where the art displayed goes against the usual guidelines of "art". Even the location is worth a visit, the wooden house being a pretty setting to just sit in the sun.
The new library builiding at EPFL is definitely the landmark of the school and a perfect place to meet people. Even for tourists visiting the city, it is worth going there to have a look and visit the spectacular architecture of the building.
The building is quite unique with its waves and and ramps. There is a lot of space and you have the comfortable impression of space.
Un lieu idéal pour étudier ou même faire des réunions professionnelles. Ambiance épurée, très agréable, mais beaucoup d'espace est gaspillé. Malgré sa forme, le lieu est adapté pour les personnes handicapées. Il y a une cafétéria ouverte jusqu'à 20h, une "cantine" pour dîner à midi avec 3-4 plats différents. Par contre le personnel de la cafétéria n'est vraiment pas aimable et certains prennent un peu les gens de haut. Les prix sont assez chers pour un lieu qui est sensé être fait pour les étudiants... Etudiants de l'UNIL pensez à faire débloquer votre carte au guichet Campipro (attention, bien suivre la procédure et envoyer un mail en premier, cela ne sert à rien d'aller directement au guichet) car sinon vous taxez le prix plein à chaque fois (on ne bénéficie des prix étudiants que avec paiement de la carte directement! un truc à la con qu'ils n'ont pas réussi à faire passer à l'UNIL mais est en vigueur à l'EPFL). Bon travail à tous! :)
